Like the old adage goes – “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop”. Invariably most people that come to me state, “I keep thinking of negative themes when I am idle and bored particularly”. I am sure we all can relate to it. But utilising this so called – “free time” is far simpler than we imagine.

Here are 5 simple hacks:

1. Unclutter:

In the olden times you could only have a messy closet. Today, we have even messier laptops & cellphones. In your free time, organise old pictures and folders. Not only would the trip down the memory lane be worth it, but the next time you are looking for a special picture, it won’t take that long.

2. Charity begins at home:

Find 5 items from your wardrobe or your house to give away to the needy. The altruistic deed will help bring a smile on someone’s face.

3. Call an Old mate:

Talking can be therapeutic. Speak your heart out to an old friend. You know there is no judgement, and as they have been in your life for so long, it is easier to open up.

4. Brain- gym:

If you are too lazy to go to the gym and work out, simply pick up a crossword, or a sudoku. Doing puzzles, crosswords and memory related games can help your brain stay young & fresh.

5. Plan your next vacation:

We all have a dreamer within us. Just like window shopping is free, there is no harm in zeroing in on a good vacation and working out financial targets towards the same. This way, you know you need to work hard to make this dream vacation into reality.
