Blog 5 tips to stick to your New Year’s resolution

January 11, 2017by admin
Welcome to Mind Wellness. In this segment of “5 tips” we highlight absolutely basic tips to get easy fix on daily issues.
Fifteen days in to the New Year, and probably a lot of us have already broken our New Year’s resolution.
1. Keep it simple silly
By the end of January a lot of us have guilt pangs. Why? Cause many of us have failed miserably at keeping our New Year’s goals. One of the simplest reasons is because we make goals that are unrealistic, trying to over reach, or made way too many goals.
Here is how your goals should be: SMART. Just like you.
S– Specific. M– Measurable. A- Achievable. R– Realistic. T– Time bound
Don’t overcomplicate your goals. Trying to achieve unrealistic goals like losing 20 kgs this year are vague and very difficult to embark upon. To make the same goal SMART, after calculating your BMI (Body mass index)[Measurable], decide a realistic figure (e.g.- 2-5kgs) [Specific and achievable] and measure your progress after every month, until the time limit you set for yourself (e.g.- 4 months)[Time-bound]
2. Buddy system
“Kyunki har ek friend zaroori hota hai.”
Force your friend to accompany you to the gym. Make some resolutions together. Decide to quit smoking together. Go for a bicycle ride instead of bar hopping.
3. App it up
Apps can help you stay on track. The market is flooded with free apps for every purpose.
Running, eating right, reading, cooking.
This year my resolution is simple. I want to drink more water to keep my skin glowing. So I have downloaded a cool new app to buzz me and remind me to drink water every few hours.

4. Temptation bundling
In its simplest form, it means combining a boring activity with a fun tempting one.
So ladies, if you hate checking those emails, why not soak your feet into a hot tub and do this boring task while rejuvenating. And guys, you can listen to your favorite music, while sweating it out on the gym. For more information on temptation bundling, check out this link below.
5. Appreciate yourself
Give yourself some credit. It takes a lot of efforts to even try to take the first step. So what if you failed?
In the words of Rocky –
“Life isn’t about how hard of a hit you can give, it’s about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward.”
Even if you failed, give it another shot. It’s not just about the end goal, but more about the process. #quote #inspiration #motivate #rocky #SylvesterStallone
